linear actuators on aliexpress
#21
a lot of hydraulic or even ball screw ones that can be back driven... they still add lots of friction while manual steering. Not sure what to say. It would be interesting to make one that could automatically move to the right position and use a servo to lock it on somehow though to avoid this issue and also be able to use any actuator.

Yeah. Right now I'm trying to make the best of the undersized wheel pilot that the prior owner installed by adding a rudder transducer and cleaning it up.  I checked in here after basically giving up on linear actuators and plan C - getting a CPT wheel pilot + pypilot.

Fwiw here's a 3d print I made of the smallest l&S hydraulic actuator I could find.. cant see that it's bent slightly fwd to get it into that position
