After unzipping the .xz file with windows, I finally managed to install the image without errors on the SD card with raspberry pi imager.

Pypilot starts much faster and allows to have the wifi connection in less than 40s instead of about 100s before.
I will look at the impact on consumption. In principle, this should at least double the 12V consumption with 80mA more.
