hello,
"Sorry, yes, you should burn a new SD using this new version." I wrote a new m2, with "2024-05-19-OpenPlotter-v4-Headless-beta-img.zip". I started it and all the "beta" applications after "get candidate"

Perfect, thanks for testing. You will see the apps status become "stable" when we add the translations.
the stable versions will be available for "older" OP4 installs, too?

If you mean the earlier beta images, yes, it will.

So...
Quick question... What is the best way of upgrading OP4 on my M2 SSD? Download the new image, burn it to a new SD card, wipe the M2 SSD and then copy it from SD to SSD ? or can it be imaged directly to the M2 SSD ? Is there an efficient way of keeping all the setup work I have done? Thanks

Hello, if you want it to be a 1/1 copy, it depends on what pi you have, (ex.pi5, with m2 on the hat, copied the image from sd to m2), written in conf...data about m2 to go at high speed and booted from m2.

There is a couple of things in the docs that I have come across that are worth noting. I have just done this new installation on my NVMe SSD exactly as per the new docs and found that if you "When the writing has finished and you are told you can do it, remove the SD card from the Raspberry Pi and reboot" It won't reboot because I'm guessing it's still running on the SD. I removed the power supply to get it to reboot... It's all good now. What is the best place to put suggestions similar to the above? Once again, I appreciate your work. Graeme Edit: Looks like 2 finger zooms doesn't work on OP touchscreen yet.

Ops you are right, that sentence does not make any sense I guess it was a copy paste from the SD method. I will change it ASAP, thanks!!
There are three ways to report issues in documents and code. They are ordered according to ease for us but you can use any of them. - Send us a Github Pull Request with the fix. - Opening an issue in Github providing details about the problem. - Create a new post in this forum (Bug Reports) Right click works on touchscreens, but not 2 fingers zoom yet. It is not clear to me if that is on the OpenCPN or Raspberry OS side or both. You can zoom using the buttons quite well, so we decided to wait for a solution.

So i made a fresh SD from Open Plotter 4 Headless, the latest beta.
The headless experience re VNC and network setup was brilliant! Impressive. The only thing that did not work out of the box was "Apperances | Appearance Settings" - it will not start using the menu. This is minor. I changed password and hostname, set headless resolution and enabled Serial Port and I2C interfaces. I changed SSID and password and clicked the "Network" button in OP Settings. All good. I used OP Serial to connect my GPS-mouse to GPSD. Looks like it's working fine. Then i installed OP I2C using OP Settings and added my BMP280. After this, the I2C service still cannot be started, this is from OP Check System: Code: Checking display server... | x11 So... how do i move on from here? Debugging tips, logs et. al. i'm not that well versed in linux/Raspberry/OP4? Hardware wise polling I2C addresses works fine and PyPilot using the IMU works too (uses I2C but not the service as far as i understand). An update was done at one point during the whole process, i could not detect any changes in behaviour though. Thank you so much, /Dany |
