and when you close the switch, it should giv 12volt towards 2 (two) connections?) Do I understand correct now?

related question ( I hope)
I have tried to find the SW12 switch on that powermodule but it appears my non-talent for elctronics does not help.
exactly what do you mean with this:
[ Did you also connect 12V SW? it will work only when you close the switch]
is it a physical thing? or is the change in the configuratrion all?

Look at the image below. you need to feed "12V SW" with 12V to start.

I started using the Pololu device yesterday and it seems to work for an hour or so, then the pi shut down. I see 5v and 12v lights on the MacArthur Hat but now the pi refuses to boot. I have been using the 12v switch power. The pi runs fine on its USB PSU. I suspect the Pololu which I bought from the openMArine shop is Pololu 5V, Step-Down Voltage Regulator D36V28F5. My set up is RPi5, SSD, Active fan and 5inch HDMI with touch screen and mouse attached. Is that likely to be on the threshold of the Pololu capabilities?

Yes, the module should be enough for that setup. Try pressing the Raspberry Pi 5 power button.

Thanks!  I found my problem - a low charged test bench battery!  It's running fine now.

I mounted the power module on my MacArthur hat and connected it as required but it seems i have a shortcut. There is a shortcut when measuring between the two pins on the black 12V connector ... what to do?

Did you mount the power module in the correct orientation? (see green square in image above)
Do you also have a short on the black connector when you remove the power module?

Yes, i mounted it as per the instructions and yes i have a short on the black connector also when i remove the power module. It seems that the MacArthur hat i got was defective.

Please contact the store where you ordered the HAT (OpenMarine or Wegmatt).
