I have just reinstalled OpenPlotter for the 3rd time in 2 days. Everytime I shutdown and reboot I get a failure in the bootup telling me that the OpenCPN shortcut is missing and that I need to reinstall from the Installer. I do that and everything seems fine. Install the charts. They all work. Close OpenCPN, logout, shutdown. Power cycle the board and the message comes back and there is no OpenCPN shortcut on the menu. I can't believe that I would need to reinstall OpenCPN and all the charts everytime I switch the RPi on. I have been using the RPi4 for over a year and the RPi5 for a few months and not seen this level of instability. I can only assume that I must be missing something.

interesting, I have had the same issue. I updated the distro today via apt update / apt full-upgrade and once that finished and the system rebooted I have the same issue. The start up check detects an issue with the opencpn shortcut and suggests a full reinstall. I haven't had time to dig it to it, but there is definitely something funny going on!

I'm having a similar issue. Last week I restarted OP after installing a new driver for my mouse (everything was chatgpt guided). I touched too much and I could boot it anymore (dead OP). Noob.
So, I downloaded the newest version of OP, burned it in the SD and rebooted it. I invested a lot of time working again on my previous config, but when I had already downloaded O-charts and started using OpenCPN again, the raspi shut down and I couldn't boot OP anymore.
I tried all the process two more times. I don't remember exactly if it shot down again or if I restarted and it couldn't boot it anymore, but I lost everything again. I think it was also when I was using OpenCPN. I might be wrong.
I will try it again next weekend. I will report any problem.

Hi. I had a similar issue when I did an upgrade and was prompted to add a new graphics module and after a reboot I lost my open cpn plotter shortcuts.
As it turned out the shortcut had been moved to the graphics section of the start menu which worked ok.
I was able to add it again to tp the cpn section by adding the properties as a new button in the cpn section so now i have it in both.
Hope this works for you too. :-)
