BME688 Install Problem
#1
Hello
I'm trying to install a BME688 sensor on a MacArthur configuration with PI5 and NvME.

I succeed to install in I2C application but there is no tab to connect the sensor to signal K, I have try quite everithing but I don't understand why. There is a way to connect the data to signal K manually?

It's the last step of an installation that took me so much time, I admin that I'm quite nooby, I apology for this. I even try to go back in some previous step of the install but I still don't find a way to connect the datas.

Have a nice evening

In addition to my post, after some research I realise that to let comunicate SIGNAL K with the sensor you need a plugin.

I installed the signalk-raspberry-pi-bme680 plugin on a fresh install of OpenPlotter.

Does it is the right plugin for BME688 too?

I still have no data that comes  in signal K, the data are "null"

And I have an error in I2C service

Thanks a lot for your reply

Hello,
I have exactly the same problem trying to receive data from a BME688 in Signalk

You do not need that signal k plugin, remove it.

You have to do nothing to connect the sensor with signal k, everything is done automatically. The screenshot you sent shows that everything is OK. Are you sure you are using the correct address? what can you see in "I2C addresses"? also check your connections.

I have the same problem after rebuilding my Raspberry Pi 5 with Macather HAT and VME with a clean install and then downloading CPN from scratch, setting up Signal K, Seatalk, 1-wire water temp and gyro i2c sensor in Pypilot.
I then
  • enabled I2C in Raspberry pi config > interfaces>switch on and reboot
  • Open plotter > I2C add BME680/688 on channel 77 as seen on I2C addresses
  • Open Plotter > SignalK > data connections - add a connection by "add" create I2C connection for SignalK, enabled, signal source UDP, Port 51000 with no self mapping.

In signalK > data browser, I see navigation attitude (roll, pitch, yaw and mag heading), Seatalk1 data and 1-wire data but no pressure sensor or temp from BME6808/6880.

Can you help please? I've been banging my head against this for some very long days now and desperately need help! Many thanks to any kind soul!

Cheers

Ken

Hi Ken, not sure if your problem is the same as mine, but I managed to get my BME688 working by following this thread

Many thanks for this; it worked a treat. I am out in the boat next week and can't say how grateful I am to get this going!
