Wind conversion error SK to N2K
#1
Hello,

I am using open marine / MacArthur Hat on RP (all up to-date). I have an old NASA wind instrument that outputs NMEA0183. It successfully sends the wind direction and speed into SK and the data browser shows it in rads +/- off the bow. I am then using the SK to N2K plugin to convert that to N2K and send it to the B&G Vulcan Chart plotter. The data is received at the unit in degree format but it’s sending a negative value which throws everything off.

Is there a simple way to correct this conversation in SK so that the data output to the N2K network is a positive number of degrees off the bow?

Thanks for your help.

You can try adjusting the wind direction conversion in the OpenCPN or SeaClear plugin settings to ensure the wind direction is positive before it's sent to the N2K network. If that option isn't available, you may need to implement a custom conversion formula or use a different plugin to handle the conversion properly.
