Pypilot with external Compass
#1
Hi, Question for the experts:
I'm using Sean's Pypilot + OpenPlotter on a Pi4 with the current version of MCS + B&G100 and would like to use the B&G compass as an "external heading."
The data is available via CAN in SignalK.
The connection to Pypilot and OpenPlotter is currently via WiFi.
1. Question:
Has anyone already implemented such a connection, and what are their experiences?
2. Changing the conf
According to my research, the following changes need to be made to the conf:
[general]
use_external_heading = true
However, after saving and restarting, [general] is deleted....., "use_external_heading = true" is still there.
Where is the error?
Thanks for any advice.
Greetings
Michael

there is no external heading supported in the main branch anyway.

This is mostly because it would probably give worse performance. Any delay in the heading or gyro is a lot worse than more accurate sensor, and the icm20948 is already more than good enough.
