Newbe Set Up Help Please
#1
Hi All,

I am a bit new to this and a little confused as to what hardware I need.
I hear about the pypilot hat but can't seem to fine one.

I have a Pi5, Mc Arthur Hat and onboard IMU that comes with the Mc Arthur.
I have a motor controller coming.

Will I be able to build an autopilot with this?
Plan is to use the existing sprocket drive.

I have the IMU recognised but I can't see any data from it currently. I thought the calibration may work but it's not.

Cheers,
Clive.

you should be able to calibrate with just the imu if you run the pypilot service.

Yes that's what I thought.
I don't seem to be getting any data from the IMU.
I have the NMEA2000 working fine.

Solved.
Well maybe!!  Big Grin

I swapped out the onboard ICM-20948 IMU on the MacArthur Hat as I had a MPU-9150 handy and everything worked! Plug and play!
I have spent hours thinking that there must be some magical setting that I didn't have right.
I now have the data in SignalK and the Pypilot calibration works fine too.
