GeWiss MacArthur HAT enclosure idea
#1
Hi everyone,

Thanks to all those who have made this project possible!

Picture of an enclosure idea, wanted something fairly rugged, and easy to remove to overwinter.

It’s a GeWiss 44427 electrical box with a transparent lid, and some M12 phoenix connectors. 4 plugs to undo and redo whenever the box needs removing, colour coded to help simplify (5 pin connectors were cheap, other configs where either unavailable or expensive). Clear lid means you can see at a glance what’s going on with the HAT, and a 3d base makes mounting easier, for the pi, the motion sensor, and the GPS module I’m using.

I went for the GeWiss box as easy to buy and they provide 3d models to make the designing the base easier. They do a non clear lid option too. GPS module is just one I had, but it does work really well, and the Wago’s are because I damaged the power connector by accident, so it now has some flying leads soldered to the pins underneath. Connector labels around the plugs are custom stickers ordered through Etsy (didn’t know that was a thing and cheap?!). There’s another sticker on the lid with the WiFi and Navionics login details.

Just an idea, lots of other cool options too!
