Hi,
Assuming back powering could be an issue I simply removed the problem by cutting the data cable between the Pi and the hub, and then I reconstructed it 'forgetting' to reconnect the + 5 VDC wire. It has always worked nicely since then (12 month ago) .
I am using this hub https://www.pearl.fr/article/PX1276/hub-...ts-usb-2-0 but the power jack could be a source of "faux contact" in the hub.
Maybe I will strip the plastic package and solder directly the 5 V power supply to the hub's PCB
