Has anyone succeeded with OP 4?

Sorry for the clickbait-y title, but based on my experience, I have doubts... Just curious about other peoples' experiences.

For me, nothing has worked... HDMI keeps cutting in/out; VNC sessions die after a few minutes; Occasionally WiFi disconnects and requires reboot to start again; Bunch of broken packages, like PyPilot, AvNav; The MacArthur HAT IMU shows up on random buses (instead of 1), and the I2C app nor Signal K can read them. Signal K plugins like i2c-reader fail on startup due to who knows what; And so on... After a whole weekend of hell, I still haven't gotten OpenCPN to connect to the Signal K server. Not that there's any useful data anyway.

So I'm returning my RPI5 and going back to a 4 so I can install OpenPlotter 3.

V4 fine here, don't use avnav, pypilot runs fine. An old android version tablet disconnected quickly but perplexity fixed that with some changes to both tablet & hotspot. Tell perplexity or claude exactly what's going on and ask for some diagnostic bash to put in a terminalk. Is there lots of power? Quality SD card? Htop showing any memory leaks?
Sounds very likely something wrong your end.

Something is indeed very wrong, but not sure what. Power comes from 3.3A supply. Maybe a little underpowered, but I'm running over VNC so screen is off. SD cards are brand new SanDisk. Plenty of free memory.

The sheer number of issues is overwhelming. HDMI blanking randomly, and sometimes taking minutes to wake up after timeout. VNC freezing every couple of minutes. Tons of software packages failing to install; services failing to start; system apps like the virtual keyboard just don't launch at all. Yet the system check reports everything as green.

I'm the process of flashing a new image onto a different SD card and starting over. Hope that works better.

No real problems for me at all like you've described. I'm new to it so Pi5 with OP4 is my only experience.

I'm having problems with an NMEA 0813 channel, but AVNav works fine, I don't use Pypilot beyond the heading sensor, I'm running on an SSD so can't comment about SD card problems, but it's very stable.
