PyNav - free Android remote control for pypilot (iOS soon)

Hi pypilot community!

I've built PyNav, an Android app for pypilot users.

The free tier gives full autopilot remote control: engage/disengage, all modes, heading, rudder angle, IMU data, full PID tuning, compass/rudder calibration, tack settings, profiles, and servo stats - connects directly to your Pi's hotspot, no router needed.

There's also an optional PRO tier that turns the same device into a full NMEA instrument display (wind, engine, navigation, alarms) if you have a NMEA/WiFi module too. Full details on the Play Store listing.

This is the first release - I'll keep improving it and fixing bugs as they come up. Feedback welcome!

Thanks for having tried the app.
Don't forget you need to be connected to the pypilot WIFI, and to set the right connection settings of the pypilot if you don't use the default ones (host and port).

I figured it out. You cannot change the pypilot address on the launch screen. There is a button to skip. Once in the app tap settings. Under pypilot type in your pypilot address and port. Then tap disconnect and then connect.

That worked for me.

The app is interesting. From what I see it is really just a different skin on pypilot's web server. At least at the free tier.

Yes indeed, thought most of the people kept the default host, did not want to over complexify but might not be the smoothest workflow in your case. You managed it and that is perfect then.
In fact yes, the free tier has more or less the same features as the web server, but this is an app. On the PRO side, the app allows the communication between NMEA data and the pypilot so you will be able to use navigation, gps and wind mode without having to do anything on the pypilot config (but you need a router to centralize connections).

I tested the app some days before and I must say, that  it works like a charme. Connecting was no problem and I could use it for managing configurations and steering, all with a modern and user friendly design.
Thanks a lot  for that.
Now I am testing the pypilot beta, Sean has presented some days before. Unfortunately the remote app doesn’t work with his new image.
The app popps up for a short moment, then disappears, nothing happens after that.

Maybe there is a chance to maintain the app even for the new image. I really would appreciate that.
