[solved] Battery monitor

Hallo zusammen,

Ich möchte die Batteriespannung überwachen. Hauptsächlich sind die ermittelten Werte mit Aktionen zu verknüpfen. Das Design sollte so einfach wie möglich sein. 3 Batterien sollten überwacht werden.

Ich habe etwas gegooglet und folgende Dinge gefunden. Ich hoffe du kannst mit etwas bei der Auswahl der Teile helfen.

If it's just voltage then it's worth considering an ADS1115

Extremely accurate 4 channel voltage sensor. You'll also need something to divide the voltage down to below 6v, maybe something like this or do it yourself with some resistors -

One tip, it's more accurate to connect the ground from the ads1115 direct to the battery neg, then you don't include any voltage drop along the negative cables in the measurements.


Measuring current as well is a bit harder as you will need to have something which can measure up to the large currents used by the engine starter motor. 

IMHO logging voltage across the actual battery terminals is one of the most useful set of data on any boat living on solar/wind power.

 I have some of this also in my box. But i plan to use it like the Victron Battery Monitor with a shunt. The parts are cheap if you buy them with a display together and for me will be important to use the script of scott bender for signal k but i am still in thinking for the setup.

You will use a shunt?

You can use an ina219. It isn't described in the documentation at the moment but the program is already in 0.14 (analog_ina219.py).

It does work with 0-26V 12 bit bidirectional current (with its own 0.1 Ohm resistor +-3.2 A. You have to use bigger shunt with less resitants for higher Amps )

There is an ina3221 which acts like three ina219.

Try this live demo... we are at a good way to push the signals in influx db and grafana... but we use different system... its for 400 cells Lipo Management of selfmade powerwalls.

In general the plan is to use a normal industrial modbus and push from there with the phython modbus libary the data to influx and also to signal k.

in openplotter itself i did got in problems but with normal raspberian it works... Do not know why... the last time i did an upgrade of openplotter and lost all funktionality in this...

So at the moment i run for this an isolate iso just and will wait until the new version is ready... I think in a Battery Management or solar is not in advanced position in developement of openplotter. But i personall need this at first place. So intermediate i try to go that way and at later point when be there is a need it can be integrate. I personall have problems like you to use the things because i am not advanced user and can do only by step by step. I still do not have any plan of the use of MQTT or node red. Near all is in english and i think this time e-sailing do hard work to improve the documentation for not advanced users. I will look forward during winter and when i have time how to integrate different electronics.

There are a lot of - HOW TO Questions and also answers and i will try to sort this a bit out because i think this helps a lot.

The module is recognized in OP as "HTU21D". So I can not do anything with it.
You said the module is already implemented.
How can I activate it?
