I have a rpi 4 8gig and have down load the headless and starting editions. when trying to boot my pi the boot process stops. the screen says start elf not recognized and needs newer version software for my pi1. any way past this at startup`.

I also just had this experience. Easiest way is to install Buster from Raspberry Pi, then download and install Openplotter Settings. After that, things just get installed from Openplotter Settings.
If you want Grafana, you'll have to make a small modification to the config file to use another port for the display, which conflicts with Signalk (3000). I used 3003.
