RE: 2023 beta image - fgorina - 2024-02-08

Finally solved the problem with ARP, difficult to connect, disconnections.

When I have a "fixed" IP Address in Tinypilot it does not respond to ARP messages.

If I let the address blank and configure the DHCP server so it gives a fixed address (the same) it works fine. So this is the way to solve it.

Thanks for explaining this. I will look into improving the static ip mode.

I posted a new image:

There was a rather serious issue with calibration I introduced a bug in april. I would recommend upgrading to this if you are using any of the previous beta images.

RE: 2023 beta image - Moeritsen - 2024-02-12

Hi Sean,

thanks for upgrading the beta.
I've just downloaded it and started testing the profiles a little bit in dry conditions at home...

I was wondering why no changes were saved after I changed a profile.

After a few tests, I noticed that it takes about 10 seconds for a change to be saved in the profile. Unfortunately, there is no visual feedback.

Perhaps the frame in which the profile name is displayed could be highlighted in red when a change has been made and for as long as the saving process takes. The color of the frame would only change to green, for example, once the saving process is complete.
In this way, nothing major would have to be changed in the appearance of the web interface, but there would be a clear feedback message to the user.

A second thing: In the Configuration menu, there is an entry in the second half stating that the following settings are part of a profile. This is currently not the case. If these settings are changed, this applies to all profiles. These settings cannot be seen or changed directly in pypilot.conf either.

Cheers

Michael

Hi sorry for the quick update but there was an issue with the previous one, try this image:
https://pypilot.org/images/tinypilot_beta_2024_02_12.img.xz

Changing settings should take effect immediately. They wont be saved to disk as often. Is this what you meant?

Which settings are "not part of a profile" for example? They should all be able to be changed in pypilot.conf, but profiled settings are under different blocks, eg [profile="default"]

Yes, that's what I've ment. Could you say, how often changes in settings will be saved in a profile? And is it possible to give a visual feedback, when changed settings of a profile has been saved?
With the last image settings won't be saved even after minutes.
if you want to test different settings on the boat and compare them quickly, it would be very helpful if the settings could be saved quite quickly after a change.

Sorry, I did not understand the right meaning of "the following settings are captured by the current profile" ... my fault. Now I've got it...

They should be saved within a minute. I will look into this.

RE: 2023 beta image - Jean-Marc Douroux - 2024-02-20

This weekend, I installed version 0.48 of Tinypilot on my 9m sailboat and I am totally satisfied with it.

I didn't need to remove the WiFi connection to recreate it. Pairing the remotes was easy.

The profiles are very useful and easy to use. Before personalizing the settings, remember to create a new profile with ADD from the one in use and then give it a new name. It is useful to have a DEFAULT profile adapted to the boat. When you delete the active profile, Pypilot always returns to the DEFAULT profile.

Thanks Sean

RE: 2023 beta image - seandepagnier - 2024-02-20

There are some issues with 0.48 and gps input. I have put a new image today:
https://pypilot.org/images/

Let me know if you find any issues!

Testing tinypilot_beta_2024_01_14

Problems with identification with SignalK Server :

- I does not send the request for authorization and getting a new token.
- If you generate a valid token manually and put it into /tc/.pypilot/signal-token it connects correctly

RE: 2023 beta image - Jean-Marc Douroux - 2024-03-03

I installed version 0.49 very easily with tinypilot_beta_2024_02_20 by reusing the pypilot.conf from previous versions 0.4x
Thanks Sean. We can hardly dream of better
