I've got my stock alert setup Smile

Also interested in any 3D printed cases that come about.

I'd like to make one to hold my Pi and MacArthur hat as well, with cooling, and I'd be happy to share my 3D files with the community, or even print them off and ship them Smile

Maybe the file is not available but figured I'd check anyways. Thanks!

That sounds nice! We have added an step file to the github: https://github.com/OpenMarine/MacArthur-HAT

The RJ45 connector is not rendered due to some error but the rest is fine.

You can view the file rendered here: https://3dviewer.net/#model=https://gith...AT-3D.step

Please keep us updated on any progress.

Will do! Much appreciated!

Count on me to buy one of those if you made them!  Big Grin
I'm having a hard time finding a good way to fix the Rpi and MAcArthur prototype in my boat
Hi AndyV,

I would be happy to collaborate with you for the design/test of the enclosure.

Currently using Solidworks as a base and happy to help export STL/Step/IGES and gcode while also running test prints. Least I can do with this entire project. I'm a bit of a noob (although did use OpenCPN for a 4 year cruise -> had NO idea there was this community and it is built out to this extent!)

I'm a seasoned EE focused on embedded systems and blown away by functionality of this entire system. Currently implementing autopilot etc and happy to add to the community. A little disgusted with cost that the BIG manufacturers charge cruisers for relatively simple electronics.

Hey there, I'll give it a try on my end too.

First question :  As seen on below screen

It seems its missing a pin header similar to this :

Is it planned to come with a pin header? If yes do you know the height? Thanks

I had the same question. The top and bottom are easy to design, will wait for the hat to make sure everything fits. Just gotta keep reloading the page to make sure I can get one ?

Hi AndyV,

Currently using Solidworks as a base and happy to help export STL/Step/IGES and gcode while also running test prints. Least I can do with this entire project. I'm a bit of a noob (although did use OpenCPN for a 4 year cruise -> had NO idea there was this community and it is built out to this extent!)

The retail cost is what brought me here. I have intermediate programming skills. I am fairly proficient with other Autodesk products, mainly for residential design so downloaded Fusion 360 a couple weeks ago and love it, there's not much you can't design on there, haven't used Solidworks as Autodesk was somewhat natural for me to pick up.

As for circuitry, I've played with it in the past but never to this extent, and even still this is mostly plug and play sensors and chips I'm putting togther with a little c# or python but it's all very interesting.

Just got a PeetBros wind sensor in and managed to get it wired to an ESP32, and then wireless to SignalK on a Pi5 dislaying as an instrument on OpenCPN, was pretty excited to see that work for pennies on the dollar.

Be happy to share designs, I've decided to wait for the Hat though due to some unknowns. Hoping to have a single case to support the "brain" on my sailboat and then other cases to mount power supplies for other ESP32 sensors around the boat. And have the remote sensors all wifi to the Pi.

If you're an EE then you're way ahead of me on that end though Wink

steved - sent ya a PM. Kinda new to forums but figured I'd save some spam and notifications for others who are subscribed.

It seems that the topic of cases and enclosures for the MacArthur HAT will be extensive so we have created a new forum for it:

100 units of MacArthur HAT (+100 power modules) are on their way to Seattle now. Then they also have to travel to Barcelona. We will ship boards from both locations. Before shipping, they must be tested. Yes, all of them, but do not worry, it will only take a few days because we will use a special board built for that. See picture.

We will know the final price when we pay all shipping and taxes but do not worry, it will be the same or even cheaper than any similar product on the market, not "marine stuff price" of course.

Exciting stuff! Thanks for the update.
Just curious... Does the test board validate functionality or is mainly concerned with things being connected/soldered correctly?

Yay! I'm eager!

The beta version worked so well for me that cannot wait to have the final version Big Grin

Both of them. The Basic Proto is a micro that sends and gets data. I can not give you more details because it was Adrian who built the board and I have not been able to get my hands on it yet.
