Unstable connection between Navicom RT550AIS and openplotter
#1
Hello everybody,

I m having trouble with the connection between my VHF AIS and openplotter on the Rpi3. Everything was working fine as i had all AIS targets and the position of the boat on openCPN. But suddenly OpenCPN stopped getting Data from the AIS, no data could be seen on the NMEA window. At that time i was using signal k to the TCP default connection of OpenCPN. I switched it to direct serial connection in OpenCPN, it worked again for a short period of time and then stopped. Since then i cant get any data from the VHF.

I wired the cables from the VHF to a DB9 female, and then to a USB to serial male. I assume i did it right, but i have a doubt with the unsheathed  one, that is now on the pin 3. Blue from VHF to pin 2 and grey from VHF to pin 5.
 I m using a RPi3, openplotter 2.0, Navicom RT550 AIS, and a MLR FX312 GPS.
Connection between the GPS and the VHF is fine. VHF is set to repeat the GPS signal through the AIS.

I changed the USB to serial adapter but nothing changed, I tried with another openplotter save but it didnt work either.
I am now considering to wire directly the GPS to Openplotter, bypassing the VHF, but i wont have any AIS targets and the AIS display is quite bad on the VHF screen.

I am now asking for your help, any ideas on how to fix this ?

I really have no idea how to fix this, does it come from the VHF or from the serial to usb cable itself ? some help would be really appreciated
